Meet My Character Blog Tour: Jess Kimball

Welcome to the Meet My Character Blog Tour! Thanks to M. Ruth Myers for inviting me to play along. Over on her blog, we met her character Maggie Sullivan. She tagged me to answer questions next, so here goes!

Today we’re getting to know Jess Kimball.
Jess Kimball is the star of Fatal Distraction, Fatal Enemy, and Flight 12: A Jess Kimball Thriller.

Jess Kimball Books

For the questions below, we’ll focus on how they relate to Jess Kimball in Flight 12.

1) What is the name of your character? Is she a fictional or a historic person?

Jessica “Jess” Kimball is an investigative journalist for Tabboo Magazine. She’s fictional, but if you had to compare her to a historic person, think Dominick Dunne — except with curly blond hair. 🙂 Like Dominck Dunne, Jess is an advocate for victims’ rights because of a personal tragedy that shoved her in that direction.

Dominick Dunne

2) When and where is the story set?

Modern-day Dallas, Texas,  Winter Park, Florida and New York City, New York.

3) What should we know about her?

Jess is a runner. She works out her problems on the track. But her physical endurance is nothing compared to her emotional stamina. She’s been hurt before, when she was a teenager, and she’s determined to protect as many other innocent victims as possible.

4) What is the goal of the character in Flight 12: A Jess Kimball Thriller?

Her goal is to break up what appears to be an international kidnap-for-ransom plot… but things aren’t always what they seem.

5) What is the personal goal of the character?

Jess Kimball’s son was kidnapped 15 years ago. Her relentless efforts to find him is the motivating factor behind almost everything she does.

6) Where can we read more about Flight 12: A Jess Kimball Thriller?

Right here!: https://dianecapri.com/books/flight-12-jess-kimball-thriller/

Flight 12: A Jess Kimball Thriller is a part of an ongoing project by New York Times Bestsellers The Twelve. What makes the project really cool is that after each member of The Twelve publishes his or her thriller (and a new one comes about just about once a month, give or take), the readers will collaborate with us to create an epilogue involving characters from all 12 books. It’s loads of fun already imaging what will happen!
You can read more about the project here: http://thetwelvexii.com/flight-12/

7) Will Jess Kimball ever find her son Peter?

I don’t know! That’s the fun of writing the series for me. I write for the same reason I read — to find out what happens! So come along with me and we’ll see where everything eventually ends up!

I now tag Beth Dexter and Jamie Lee Scott to follow us on this blog tour. Thanks, Beth and Jamie!

Where You Can Go in 16 Hours 50 Min

What’s the longest airline route you’ve ever taken? My flight to Italy a few years ago was about ten hours long. If you’re able to sleep for six hours or so, that leaves you with an hour to get settled, a couple hours to read, and an hour to munch on meals and flip through […]

Today is National Defy Superstition Day (No Joke!)

Can you believe we’ve got a National Defy Superstition Day? (Who knew?) Are you superstitious? Kim Otto isn’t, but in Get Back Jack, she’s amused when Frances Neagley says, “Fist bump. It’s what the special investigators always did before and after a mission.” “Who knew you were so superstitious,” Kim said. Defying superstitions is the […]

Lee Child’s Personal New Thriller Released Today

LET’S GET PERSONAL WITH  LEE CHILD, SHALL WE? Personally, I look up to Lee Child (In more ways than one! The dude’s a foot taller than me! See photo below.) Fashion, a Podcast, and a Book Signing

For today’s Saturday Special, here are a few things we did this week: I started the week blogging about the feisty side of my personality, which led me to the snowbird lifestyle 20 years ago — a lifestyle I’ve embraced ever since. It seems writing that blog Monday gave me an extra dose of feisty, because […]

If Your Favorite Book Were A Movie…

It’s fun to think about, isn’t it? Who would you cast to play the characters in your favorite book? I found this website called iflist.com, and it’s encouraging my imagination to run wild. I’m okay with that. 🙂 This is how iflist.com, The Imagine Film List, describes itself:  IF List is a free online platform that lets […]

Summertime and the Snowbird Living is Easy

Have I always been a little on the feisty side? Sure. It’s the way I’m made, I guess. You see evidence of that in everything I write, don’t you? Think about my characters Willa Carson, Jess Kimball, Jenny Lane, Kim Otto and Carlos Gaspar and more. All are way more than a little on the […]
