2 Kids Who Beat the Odds in Haiti

One of the most miraculous stories to arise out of the Haiti earthquake catastrophe of 2010 was the four-month-old who was found alive in the rubble four days after the quake.

Can you believe it’s been five years since the earthquake? When I was doing research for False Truth Books 4-6, much of which takes place in Haiti, I remembered this story and checked in on what ever happened to that little girl.

Here she is, now five years old!

Haiti Earthquake Survivor

She’s a cutie, isn’t she? Her name is Jenny. She lives in Miami now with her parents, who were separated from her during the earthquake, but survived and were reunited with her.

Jenny’s story reminds me of the fictional story of Estelle Marcon and her daughter Dominique Wren, featured in False Truth. At age nine, Dominique survived a dangerous attack on her world as deadly as the earthquake’s attack on Jenny’s world. But Dominique escaped to Florida, where she, like Jenny, fled personal disaster. As a child, Dominique loved to play princess. Reports say Jenny enjoys the same.

You know I am always rooting for the underdog. If Jenny’s story isn’t an example of thriving against the odds, I don’t know what is!

Jordan Fox has a problem. False Truth Serial readers know her first job after college has turned from her dream job into a low paying internship. Saturday Special: What To Do In London?

As I mentioned earlier, I’m heading across the pond next week to London! I won’t have a ton of free time since I have three book events to attend, but if I find a few spare hours, what should I do?? Of course, visiting a pub is one item on my ‘must-do’ list. If I had the […]

Diane Capri Steps Into the Shoes of Jordan Fox

I recently had an opportunity to step into Jordan Fox‘s world and it was truly surreal. No, I wasn’t sent to solve a cold case or to investigate a suspicious airplane crash. I was invited to a press event – a VIP reception and  preview of the “Dalí and da Vinci” art exhibit at St. Petersburg’s Dalí […]

If you’ll be in or near London, I hope I’ll get a chance to meet you later this month. One of my goals this year was to meet as many of you as I possibly can in person. Toward that end, I’m crossing the pond. I’ll be attending three events April 16 – 18. Hope to […]

It’s been a long week. Not in a bad way. In a very productive way. False Truth 10 is now just days away from being available for pre-order, and the Kobo Book Signing event in London is closer to becoming a reality. But now I’m ready for a break! Conveniently, I’ve been eyeing this for […]

Amanda Knox is cleared

Amanda Knox is cleared. Last week, Italy’s highest appeals court overturned Knox’s murder and sexual assault convictions in the charges stemming from the 2007 death of Knox’s British roommate, Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy. Like many of you, I’ve been interested in this case for several years. I’ve spent many years practicing law and I […]
