Heads Up: I know birds can read. If you’re a bird, don’t bother reading this blog, though. It’s about road trips, which are irrelevant to you since you can fly (for free, I might add… jealous!!) and it’s about fireworks which you probably want to steer clear of. Oh and I’m starting off with a quiz, which you’ll need fingers to complete.
If you’re a bird, skip the blog and fly straight to this adorable little library for birds in Virginia. Happy Trails!
To all the rest of you, or at least to those of you who celebrate, Happy 4th of July! In honor of America’s Independence Day, I found this fun American History quiz you may enjoy. For example, do you know what the colors of the American flag stand for? Take the quiz to test your knowledge, or to discover the answer.
What are your Independence Day traditions? Maybe you celebrate a different Independence Day than America’s. As I mentioned in my blog on Thursday, I love the tradition of fireworks. There are grand displays all over the U.S., but tonight you may be able to watch some of them from home, including displays in D.C., New York, and Chicago (all cities visited by Agents Otto and Gaspar on the Hunt for Jack Reacher). For details, CLICK HERE.
Speaking of tradition, another favorite summer pastime is road trips. WalletHub compiled data on lodging, gas prices, road conditions/safety, and scenic attractions to find what it calls the best and worst states for road trips.
Top 5 Best U.S. States For Road Trips:
1) Oregon
2) Nevada
3) Minnesota
4) Washington
5) Ohio
Coming in Last as the 5 Worst:
46) South Dakota
47) Mississippi
48) Delaware
49) North Dakota
50) Connecticut

American History Quiz
You Scored: 7 / 11
Thanks for playing. Happy Fourth of July!
Diane – I’ve taken road trips in 49 states (while I’ve been in Alaska, it has not been via automobile). Every state has plenty to offer. In fact, two of my favorites are in the bottom 5 – South Dakota and Connecticut. This was all fun. I wish I had a better score on the quiz.
7 out of 11 isn’t bad, Larry. The questions weren’t easy! And 49 states?! Very impressive. You get some kind of bonus points for that, I’m sure 😉
