What’s your favorite holiday movie?
Think… think… think… because there’s a prize ahead…
Got it in mind?
Okay, now I’m going to get more specific. Because we all love A Charlie Brown Christmas and It’s a Wonderful Life and Love, Actually and maybe one of the versions of A Christmas Carol. The feel-good classics are hard not to like.
But as a thriller writer, you know I appreciate a little more action and adventure.
And as a thriller reader, you probably do, too.
So what’s your favorite Christmas/holiday-themed MYSTERY or THRILLER movie?
I know. Mysteries and thrillers are not exactly what first comes to mind when we think of the holidays. So I’ll give you some ideas below. Any thriller set during the holiday season counts.
You can comment with your favorite – there’s no wrong answer – and we’ll draw one name from the commenters to win a PRIZE!
The prize is… A hot-off-the-press 2015 Diane Capri Calendar with a thrilling quote and seasonal artwork for every month!
So comment with a favorite from the ideas below, or one that I forgot, or, if you really don’t care for holiday-themed thrillers at all, that’s okay, too! Just speak your mind for your chance to win.
So? Which Festive Flick That Thrills do you fancy most?

Reindeer Games, any movie with Ben Affleck & Gary Sinese has to be in play!
I liked that one, too, Roger. Good choice!
Lethal Weapon with Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.
Loved that duo, Lynette!
Gotta love some Bruce Willis!!!
I’ve been a fan since the Moonlighting days, Mary Jane. You, too?
Die Hard
One of my favorites, Barbara. Years ago, I met the author of the Die Hard series, who has now passed. His name was Walter Wager and a more thoughtful guy would be hard to find. He’d be so pleased that you and millions of others enjoy his work.
After reviewing all of the above movies you suggested, I can’t just pick Bruce Willis, I want to watch them all!
Me, too! Come on over and we’ll have a movie marathon!
I love me some Bruce Willis, but you just can’t pick one, they are all great.
You are so right!
Barbara Gordon, you are our winner of the free calendar!!! Check your email 🙂
High Crimes is a good one.
I liked that one, too, Rosemary. Thanks for commenting!
I love Die Hard! I also love Gremlins! Merry Christmas!
Hmmmmm…Gremlins and Die Hard. Wonder what they have in common? 😉
Die Hard is a can’t miss. I have been following Die Hard with each new movie especially when I thought the fourth movie was the last of the series.
Great series, Kai. I agree! Thanks for commenting!
I would have to go with “Die Hard.”
Thanks, Debbie. Hope you had a great Christmas!
Reindeer Games
Good choice, Barbara!
Die Hard. My favorite part (one of) is when he takes his shoes off. The real fun begins! I love all of the Die Hard movies 🙂
Do you think Bruce Willis has stinky feet? LOL!! Good trivia question for some day! Thanks for commenting, Diane!
Die Hard and Gremlins are my favorites.
There seems to be a groundswell of support for those two, BookLady!
So many great Christmas movies. I don’t know to many thrillers but here’s a few favorites…
Bad Santa
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Die Hard
Batman Returns
Love Actually
Happy Holidays!!!
Merry Christmas to you, too, Shannon — and thanks for commenting! Good to see you here!
I love both Die Hard (1 & 2) took place at Xmas, and the Lethal Weapon movies!
You’re not alone in those favorites, Marcia. Thanks for commenting!
Die Hard — it lives on — shown throughout the year and at Christmas time — even if you don’t have time to watch the whole movie (for the 15th time), you can always enjoy catching a piece of it……
I also like a “Long Kiss Goodnight”…. Christmas time setting , and it too lives on ….. and same as Die Hard, if not enough time to watch it again, you can always enjoy catching a piece of it…..
I haven’t watched “Long Kiss Goodnight” in years, Gerald. Thanks for the reminder. And thanks for commenting!
I loved the first two Die Hard movies. Reindeer Games was good. I’ve never seen Ice Harvest. Obviously, I need to fix that.
My absolutely favorite Christmas movie is Lady and the Tramp. The thrilling mysterious part is, will those darn cats get what is coming to them and will the Tramp be saved from the dog catchers?!
Happy Holidays!
The NIghtmare Before Christmas is my favorite with Die Hard coming in second place.
