Is Jack Reacher Dead Or Alive? New Novel Investigates…

Book #8 (Novel #5) in the Hunt for Reacher Series is available now!

I’m thrilled to announce that the eighth Hunt for Reacher book, Jack the Reaper, is available now, in ebook, paperback, and audiobook.

Jack the Reaper

After Jack Reacher handled things The Hard Way, FBI Special Agents Kim Otto and Carlos Gaspar are dispatched to find out whether Reacher is dead or alive. But they aren’t the only ones who want to find Reacher this time. A corrupt Army General is on the hunt, too, determined to make sure Reacher reaps what he sowed. Reacher’s friends Brewer and Pauling are in the crosshairs. When powerful enemies with their backs against the wall will stop at nothing to make Reacher pay, can Otto and Gaspar find the secrets Reacher left behind to keep his friends alive?

Here’s how my writing process for the Hunt for Jack Reacher books goes. I have an idea spark and I wonder about the best way to write a good story around it. I begin by selecting a Lee Child source book. There are 21 Reacher novels now, which provide a gold mine of choices.

I’m looking to tell the rest of the Reacher story. What happens to these people and places when Reacher finishes his adventure and moves on? Because Reacher always leaves plenty of mayhem behind; I’ve got a lot of fertile ground for planting new plots and disasters.

I read the Reacher books differently now than a normal reader does. I look for situations in the source book, such as overlooked holes or missing pieces, that I can use to spin a new tale. The source book for Jack the Reaper is The Hard Way by Lee Child.

“Full of thrills and tension, but smart and human, too. Kim Otto is a great, great character – I love her.”
