If you’re reading this blog, it’s safe to say we have at least one thing in common: a love of reading.
But beyond that, our personal preferences start to define us as individuals:
- Some of us love trying new things, while some of us say, “If it aint broke, don’t fix it!”
- Some of us enjoy sharing our personal lives, while some of us like to remain more private.
- Some of us excel at expressing ourselves visually. Others prefer to express ourselves verbally.
I say all this to preface this statement:
I use Instagram.
Do you?
I know a lot of people who do, and a lot of people who don’t. As a writer, I do spend a lot of time at my desk, but I do a good bit of traveling, too, for various conferences and, once in a while, just for fun. 🙂
When I’m out and about, I find that Instagram is a fun way to share a quick picture and check out what friends and readers are doing, too.
Now, the concept of a mystery writer on Instagram might in itself be a bit mysterious.
After all, shouldn’t a mystery writer be gravitating toward words rather than away from them? Instagram is photo-centric. Some would argue that the whole point of Instagram is to snap a picture and throw it out there to the world without having to bother with words.
But a mystery writer, like all writers, and like most people in general, can be inspired by pictures. And I don’t just mean graphics of motivational quotes. Sometimes a photo of a spooky space can inspire an entire scene, or sometimes, an entire book.
A picture is worth a thousand words, right?
If you do use Instagram, let’s connect! I’m @DianeCapri. If you don’t use it, I thought I’d show you a few of my recent posts so you aren’t missing out.

Sharing quotes like these helps me remember to keep an eye on my sanity-
and lets me know I’m not alone!

To anyone who uses Instagram: I look forward to finding and following you!
And to everyone else, here’s a little secret: You don’t have to have an Instagram account to check in on mine. If you want, go to www.instagram.com/dianecapri any time to check out the latest!
