Boat Crashes Into Restaurant

“In like a lion, out like a lamb.”

That’s the expression assigned to the month of March, and so far, it’s holding true in many parts of the U.S., including here in Florida.

Sea Fog

In my thriller Fatal Distraction, Jess Kimball remarks:

“The day was cool but sunny and dry, the kind of weather Floridians loved but seldom experienced.”

Jess Kimball surely wasn’t talking about March, because what she describes is exactly the opposite of what we’re experiencing in Florida right now.

In fact, recently, the air was SO moist in Florida that intense fog obscured a boat captain’s vision to the point that the 39-foot boat ran into a waterside restaurant! Here’s surveillance video showing the crash into the Sunset Grill in Ruskin, Florida near Tampa.

When I look at the waterside Sunset Grill, I can’t help but think of George’s Place – the restaurant owned by Judge Willa Carson’s husband in Tampa. This happened only thirty minutes away!

Since no one was badly hurt, the restaurant took the accident in stride, reopening with specials called “Shipwreck Stew” and “Shipwreck Sangria.”

Investigators say alcohol was not behind the crash, but an investigation continues. The captain is charged with reckless operation.

So how is March treating you so far? More like a lamb or more like a lion?
