The Next Big Thing – Part One

I was pleasantly surprised when my friend CJ West tagged me recently in an ongoing blog hop on Facebook called The Next Big Thing. Right at that moment, we were working feverishly to finish several new projects which have now hit the shelves. I’m excited to tell you about them, so thanks, CJ for asking!

1. What is the title of the work?

We just released six (whew!) new products, the Licensed to Thrill Collections.

Licensed to Thrill: A Diane Capri Sampler is a totally new volume filled with bonus materials not collected anywhere else. We’re very excited about because it’s something of an experiment for us. If you like it, we may do more in the future. Be sure to let us know what you think!

The Licensed to Thrill Boxed Sets (Volumes 1 through 5) are five collections of Diane Capri ebooks gathered in one convenient package and sold at special prices.

The covers are awesome, don’t you think? And if you want to know exactly what’s contained in each, there’s a list here: Licensed to Thrill Collections

2. Where did the idea for the books come from?

I love the ability to sample books before I buy, but sometimes the samples are not long enough for me. I wanted to read more of the books and it would be convenient to have samples of all the books in a series in one place as well. And I love the bonus materials added to the end of movies on DVDs. Things like special interviews and special previews. We wanted to add bonus materials to all of my books, but that wasn’t feasible. So with Licensed to Thrill: A Diane Capri Sampler, we’ve been able to do both!

Readers asked for the Licensed to Thrill Boxed Sets because they like the books gathered together in order in a convenient, cost effective package. Some readers like shorter ebooks, too, because they don’t have as much time to read or they’re reading on their cell phones when they have a chance. And they like those shorter ebooks collected together for convenience. We hope you’ll love them!

3.  What genre are your books?

Licensed to Thrill, which means thrills when the story warrants, but not wedded to a breathless pace or constant violence. So my books are suspenseful hard-boiled mystery legal thrillers. *laughs* That’s a mouthful, isn’t it?

4.  Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie?

Lucy Liu for Kim Otto. Brooke Shields for Willa Carson.  Dakota Fanning for Jess Kimball. Harry Connick or Andy Garcia for Carlos Gaspar. Kevin Kline for George Carson. Who would you choose?

5.  What’s a one sentence synopsis for your book?

Diane Capri Collected!

6.  Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

All of my ebooks are published by my wholly owned publishing company, AugustBooks.

7.  How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

My first book, Due Justice, took about 30 years. *laughs* After that, the time for each book varies between one to three years from concept to completion.

8.  What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Ummmm……I’m not sure anyone else writes in my genre! *laughs*  My Hunt For Reacher Series is similar in style and tone to Lee Child’s Jack Reacher Thrillers. The Jess Kimball Thrillers are a little softer version, only because Jess Kimball is a lot nicer than Jack Reacher! The Justice Series books are similar to John Grisham, but a bit more realistic.

9.  Who or what inspired you to write this book?

I think maybe I answered that already in question 2?

10. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

OMG! How much time do we have? *laughs* My books feature the world as I see it. I used to believe everyone thinks the way I think, but now I know that’s not true. My way of looking at the world is hard to describe, but a psychic told me once that I see the hidden relationships others don’t see. That’s as close as I can come to describing it. You’ll just have to read and find out!

Thanks, CJ! I always love to see the concepts the cover designers come up with after reading the books. Don’t you?

Love the covers, Diane! Hmm, thirty years to write the first book? Maybe I’m not as far behind as I thought, LOL! I just hope I can do half as well as you as I continue!

Awwww…Thanks, Lynette! And now you know why Debra Eve called me a Late Bloomer!

  5. Kassandra Lamb November 24, 2012 at 2:47 am #

Gee, it only took me eighteen years to write my first novel. Maybe I wasn’t thorough enough. 🙂

I love your collections, Diane. Off to buy me some.

Thanks, Kassandra! Yep, I can be a little (or a lot) slow sometimes…

This is fantastic, Diane! Congratulations on pulling this all together. It looks great. The boxed set is ideal for the holiday. I saw the ad for Jack last night when we got home and relaxed in front of the television for the first time in two weeks. It made me think of you. You have given my hope and inspiration.
